Domed style pistons need to have a wash the size of the nail on your thumb or slightly less. WebDec 23, 2003 · You have to come up with the perfect jets for your machine by reading piston wash and plugs first. There is no other way! Then you can take the charts and adjust jetting for different conditions such as temp and elevation. Even then, I wouldn't just take the charts as gospel. Go by the chart, then check plugs and wash again. Adjust from there.

The cool, fresh fuel is a solvent... and it will keep the piston crown cleaned off, where it's exposed to the bypass ports. Reading piston wash is a way of tuning a 2-stroke. Anyway... on your rear piston... there is no sign of "Washing".
