Our 2024 Silverado 3500 started the tailgate open message when closed and hauling our 5th wheel trailer but now also does so when not connected to the 5th wheel. It would do it especially on bumps and rough roads sometimes 200 times per trip.

I would pull the inspection plate inside the tailgate off, and view the latching/unlatching movement with the handle. Another thing to check is to make sure when closing that both sides latches engage both striker plates.
